Sam Shippee Open response Mark Twain's quote "make your vocation your vacation" directly relates to the passage "Lego" by David Owen because Francie Berger made her favorite hobby her job, and that is what mark Twain is saying to do. Francie Berger grew up in Queens playing with legos all the time. As she got older she realized that she could follow her dream and work at lego. Mark's quote says make your job or career something that you love and francie berger follows that exactly. She was persistent on calling and writing lego for a job, "She began calling the company on a monthly basis, and she once dropped by it headquarters" (p1). At one point she says "they knew who i was." (p1) francie was so persistent the company told her to send in a resume after college, and she did. She built a model farm out of legos and used it as her senior thesis and her job application. " Seeing no other way out, lego ired her, in 1984, for a three week trial period."(p1) francie berger is proof that if you follow dreams in life you will be happy. Mark twain's philosophy of making your life better then doing what you love is true.
